Who Are We
-
We are a local Community Group based in Murwillumbah, Tweed Shire NSW
-
We are NOT opposed to a bike trail within the Railway corridor
-
We are concerned residents representing our broader communities, who have shared with us their stories of frustration at the lack of vision and foresight within our local Council
-
We are passionate about our region, our communities and our children's future
-
We are a knowledgable network of people from long term locals to professionals within the fields of planning, construction and engineering and we feel it's time to SET THINGS STRAIGHT
The Direction ~ Where We Can Ride Together
Our Goals
-
To promote democratic decision making
-
To achieve the appropriate Shirewide Community Consultation for a project of this significance
-
To preserve the railway tracks and rail infrastructure
-
To clarify within the community that we are NOT opposed to a Bike Trail within the Railway corridor
-
To ensure that the concerns and feelings of the Tweed Shire residents wanting future Community Light Rail services linking Byron, and eventually Queensland, are considered
-
That a majority shirewide community decision decides whether the railway tracks are removed or not
Vision
To see a WIN/WIN development on the Tweed Section of Railway Corridor. Where ALL members of our shire, and visitors, can access the rail corridor for physical activity and/or regular, environmentally sustainable community transport which contributes to the growth and livability of our busy region.
Livability is the sum of the factors that add up to a community's quality of life—including the built and natural environments, economic prosperity, social stability and equity, educational opportunity, and cultural, entertainment and recreation possibilities.
